Chapter 9: Argumentative Essays

Argumentative essays

Academic writers make convincing arguments to agree or disagree with any issue. They give good reasons for their opinion and support them with solid evidence. Moreover, academic writers ALSO give the other side’s arguments/reasons and explain why they are wrong.

B. Body
(Block One)
Summarize the other side’s arguments.
Rebut the first argument ...
Rebut the second ...
Rebut the third ...
(Block Two)
Your first argument
Your second argument
Your third argument
C. Conclusion: Restate your thesis and summarize your point of view.

B. Body:
1. Give opposing argument #1; rebut with your counterargument
2. Give opposing argument #2; rebut with your counterargument
3. Give opposing argument #3; rebut with your counterargument
C. Conclusion: Restate your thesis and summarize your point of view.
